Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena on June 3 conducted an on-site inspection of ongoing and proposed drinking water supply projects within the civic body’s jurisdiction, focusing on Ward Nos. 26 and 27.
Inspection in Ward 26 and 27
During the inspection, Meena reviewed works related to borewells, pipelines and pump houses across multiple locations, including Masjid Gali, Shiv Mandir Gali and the Kali Mandir area near Bans Ghat in Ward 26.
He also assessed proposed water supply schemes in Papin Gali and Ganga Mahal Gali in Ward 27, covering a total of five projects in different stages of execution and planning.
Coordination with Infrastructure Agencies
Officials informed that several water supply projects overlap with road and drainage works proposed by BUIDCO. The Municipal Commissioner directed both agencies to ensure coordination to avoid repeated excavation and public inconvenience.
He emphasised that all water supply works must be prioritised and completed in a time-bound manner, particularly in areas where infrastructure development is also underway.
Project Progress Updates
According to officials, nearly 90 percent of pipeline laying work in Masjid Gali has been completed, with the remaining portion expected to be finished within the next two to three days.
They also informed that pipeline work in Shiv Mandir Gali, along with the extension from Papin Gali to Ganga Mahal Gali, is scheduled to begin within two days and is targeted for completion by June 10.
Pump House and Quality Review
The Municipal Commissioner also inspected the pump house under construction at the Kali Mandir complex near Bans Ghat, along with associated pipeline works.
He instructed agencies to maintain quality standards and complete the work within stipulated timelines, stating that delays in essential civic services would not be acceptable.
Monitoring and Timely Delivery
Meena directed officials to ensure regular monitoring of all ongoing projects and continuous review of progress so that water supply schemes are completed on schedule and benefits reach residents without disruption.
