Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has placed the state on heightened alert ahead of the NEET UG 2026 re-exam scheduled for June 21, strengthening surveillance to prevent malpractice, fraud, and digital manipulation during the examination process.
A dedicated monitoring cell has been activated to oversee real-time developments and ensure the exam is conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
Surveillance of Suspects
Officials have identified a list of 135 individuals within Bihar who are under special surveillance. According to the EOU, these persons were earlier found involved in cases linked to paper leaks, impersonation, and irregularities in competitive examinations.
The agency has stated that their activities are being closely tracked to prevent any attempt to disrupt the examination process.
Advisory to Candidates and Parents
EOU has issued an advisory urging students and parents to remain cautious of cyber fraud attempts during the examination period.
Authorities warned that fraudulent elements may attempt to circulate fake claims regarding question papers, answer keys, or guaranteed selection through phone calls, messages, emails, or social media platforms.
Students have been advised not to engage with such claims under any circumstances.
Social Media Monitoring Intensified
As part of its preventive measures, the EOU is actively monitoring platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp, and X.
Officials said there is a possibility of misinformation campaigns or circulation of fabricated exam material aimed at misleading candidates and undermining the credibility of the examination system.
Warning Against Rumour-Mongering
The police have appealed to the public to avoid forwarding unverified information related to the NEET UG re-exam.
Authorities stated that spreading false information can create panic among students and will invite legal action under relevant provisions of law.
Reporting Channels for Complaints
Candidates have been advised to rely only on official communication channels for exam-related updates.
In case of suspicious online activity, students are encouraged to preserve evidence such as screenshots, URLs, and account details before reporting it.
The EOU has shared contact numbers for reporting cybercrime-related complaints: 9031829067 and the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930.
Security at Examination Centres
Security arrangements have been strengthened at examination centres and sensitive locations across the state.
Officials said strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt the examination process or engage in malpractice.
