Patna: The search for Formula 1 sim racing talent in Bihar has begun, with the F-1 Sim Racing India Open selection trials being held at the indoor hall of the Patliputra Sports Complex.
Tuesday is the final day of the Patna trials, where participants are competing on computer-based racing simulators for a chance to progress to the national stage.
The initiative aims to give young people in Bihar an opportunity to showcase their racing skills and compete alongside sim racers from across India.
First F-1 Sim Racing Event In Bihar
Ravindran Sankaran, Director General of the Bihar State Sports Authority (BSSA), said the F-1 Sim Racing India Open is being organised in Bihar for the first time.
He said the competition would provide a platform for both young and experienced sim racers while helping identify new talent and create opportunities for their development.
India’s Mohammed Ibrahim will be involved in identifying talent in the junior category. He will assess participants on their racing ability, technical skills and overall performance.
Competition To Progress From City Trials To National Final
According to Sankaran, the championship will be conducted in multiple stages, beginning with city-level selection trials and moving to regional competitions before the national finals.
The national final will be held in Mumbai. Participants who progress through the earlier rounds will compete for a place at the final stage.
The multi-stage format is intended to give emerging drivers from different regions an opportunity to compete at the national level.
Rs 2 Crore Prize Pool
The F-1 Sim Racing India Open has a total prize pool of Rs 2 crore, divided equally between the senior and junior categories.
Each category has been allocated Rs 1 crore in prize money, according to the organisers.
