Patna: A six-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Seeking New Horizons: Moving Ahead Towards Excellence” and “AI and New NAAC Manual” concluded on Saturday at Patna Women’s College (PWC), an autonomous institution under Patna University. The programme was organized in collaboration with the Apostolic Carmel Generalate, Bengaluru, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of PWC.
The FDP, held from July 1 to July 6, aimed at enhancing the teaching staff’s proficiency in utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) in education and acquainting them with the new NAAC Manual. The final day featured recommendations and a vote of thanks by Alok John, Dean of National and International Collaborations and Consultancy Services at PWC.
Over the course of six days, participants explored the integration of AI in educational practices and research. The initial two days focused on the spiritual aspects of teaching, emphasizing the virtues of effective educators and the history of Mount Carmel alongside fostering God consciousness. The subsequent four days delved into the practical applications of AI, including machine learning, academic research, data analysis, and Bloom’s taxonomy.
Key sessions covered the use of AI tools such as ChatGPT 4, Copilot, AI Bard (Google Gemini), and DALL-E, highlighting their utility in research paper writing, data interpretation, and academic tasks. Participants were also trained on detecting AI usage in student submissions. Additionally, detailed discussions on the changes and modifications in the New NAAC Manual were held, with a focus on the new accreditation process set to commence in December, 2024.
The event was orchestrated under the guidance of Dr. Sister M Rashmi A.C., Principal of PWC. Distinguished resource persons included Dr. Sister Pearl Ann A.C., Former Principal of Mount Carmel School, Bandra, Mumbai, and Dr. Sister M.
