PATNA: With just hours left before over a million students sit for the NEET UG 2025 examination, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has launched a significant crackdown on online misinformation. The agency has formally requested the Cyber Crime Coordination Centre to block 15 Telegram and Instagram channels allegedly circulating false information about the highly competitive medical entrance exam.
The move comes amid heightened scrutiny and rising anxiety among candidates, especially in Bihar, where more than 1.19 lakh students have registered for the exam scheduled for Saturday, 4 May. Patna alone will host over 75 of the 125-plus exam centres set up across 35 districts in the state.
In a letter to the cyber crime unit, the NTA urged swift action against social media handles originating from Bihar, accusing them of spreading rumours that could mislead candidates and compromise the integrity of the examination process.
As the countdown to the exam intensifies, the NTA has reinforced the need for students to carefully follow guidelines mentioned on their admit cards. Candidates must affix the same photograph submitted during the application process onto the admit card and carry an additional passport-sized photo for the attendance sheet.
Acceptable forms of identification include Aadhaar card, driving licence, PAN card, voter ID, or a Class 12 admit card with a photograph.
