Bhojpur: Former IPS officer Kamya Mishra has reached Bihar’s Bhojpur district to assist flood-affected families, where her husband, IPS officer Awadhesh Dixit, is currently serving as Superintendent of Police (SP).
Several areas of Bhojpur are facing flooding, with the district administration engaged in relief and rescue efforts. Amid the situation, Kamya Mishra on Thursday visited several flood-affected villages in the Barhara area and distributed relief materials among families affected by the floods.
Mishra visited Neknam Tola, Jiva Rai Ka Tola, Shaligram Singh Tola, Bakhorapur and other affected villages. She arrived with around 400 packets of relief materials, which included essential food items as well as sanitary pads and other necessities for women.
She also interacted with flood-affected residents to understand the problems they were facing and assured them of all possible assistance.
Kamya Mishra Resigned From IPS In 2024
Kamya Mishra, who was known as the “Lady Singham” during her tenure as a police officer in Bihar, resigned from the Indian Police Service on August 5, 2024, after around six years in service. She cited the need to take care of her family’s business as the reason for leaving the police service.
Mishra, originally from Odisha, cleared the UPSC examination at the age of 22 and was part of the 2019 batch. She was initially allotted the Himachal Pradesh cadre but was later transferred to the Bihar cadre. Her last posting was as Rural SP in Darbhanga.
How Kamya Mishra And Awadhesh Dixit Met
Kamya Mishra and IPS officer Awadhesh Dixit met during their IPS training in 2019. Their relationship reportedly developed during their training period and eventually culminated in marriage.
In an interview, Mishra said she was the one who took the initiative to propose to Dixit. She recalled that during a field visit to Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh, she expressed her feelings to him. As she did not have a ring at the time, the two made a ring from grass, which she gave to Dixit as a “promise ring”.
Dixit has also spoken about their first meeting, describing it humorously as a moment when he experienced a “lathi charge” on his heart. He said his reserved nature prevented him from expressing his feelings initially.
The couple reportedly had a court marriage in 2020 during their training and later held a destination wedding in Udaipur in 2021.
Awadhesh Dixit’s Police Career
IPS officer Awadhesh Dixit began his career as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Begusarai before serving as ASP in Paliganj, Patna.
During his tenure as ASP in Muzaffarpur, he launched a police school initiative for children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the red-light area. He later served as Superintendent of Police in Gopalganj and Lakhisarai.
Dixit is currently serving as the SP of Bhojpur, where several areas are affected by flooding and the administration is coordinating relief efforts.
