Four Chinese Nationals Caught Illegally Crossing Into India at Raxaul Amid Border Tensions

Raxaul/ Patna: As diplomatic tensions simmer in the subcontinent, security forces at the India-Nepal border have intercepted four Chinese nationals allegedly attempting to enter Indian territory illegally near Raxaul in Bihar.

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) detained the individuals — three men and a woman — at the Raxaul Maitri Bridge, a key checkpoint along the porous border with Nepal. The incident, which comes against the backdrop of rising anxiety over cross-border infiltration and heightened India-Pak dynamics, has prompted swift and discreet action by Indian authorities.

Identified as Kijun, Lei Yonghai, He Kuengseng, and Hung Limin, the four were reportedly staying in Kathmandu for the past week before making their way toward Indian soil. Their inconsistent statements during initial questioning — delivered in Hindi, English, Nepali and Mandarin — have raised further suspicions about their intentions.

Security agencies have classified the development as “serious” given the sensitive geopolitical climate, and the individuals are currently being interrogated at an undisclosed location. While their purpose of entry remains unclear, intelligence officials are combing through digital and travel records for leads.

The SSB and other investigative bodies are yet to confirm any links to espionage or organised networks, but sources suggest that the multilingual responses and sudden route choice have made this case more than routine.

Raxaul, located along the Bihar-Nepal frontier, has long served as a strategic point of concern due to its open border dynamics, often exploited for smuggling or covert movements.  Further updates are expected as investigations progress.
