Patna, September 13, 2026: A free eye check-up camp organised jointly by the Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) of Ram Nagari Colony Sector-2 and Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital, Mastichak in Saran, drew an enthusiastic response on Sunday, with around 200 people from Ram Nagari Colony and different parts of Patna attending the camp.

Held from 11am to 5pm, the camp offered basic eye examinations and vision testing free of cost, allowing people to access a range of screening services without having to travel to a hospital.

Multiple Eye Tests Offered Free Of Cost

The camp provided several eye examination facilities, including torch examination, visual acuity testing, auto-refractometer checks, slit-lamp examination, primary eye assessment and screening for common eye-related conditions.

A high-tech vision van, functioning as a mobile eye clinic, was also stationed at the venue to facilitate different types of eye examinations.

People requiring further investigation were identified and referred to Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital for advanced testing.

Akhand Jyoti Sets 2030 Target

Vivek Vikas, Chief Public Relations Officer of Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital, said the organisation’s primary objective is to eradicate curable blindness in Bihar.

He said Akhand Jyoti has set a target of conducting 1.20 crore eye examinations and 20 lakh eye surgeries by 2030. “The hospital is also offering premium outpatient services to people in Patna through its Patna Vision Lounge in Kidwaipuri. For patients requiring surgery, the hospital provides free transportation to and from its main facility in Mastichak, along with free meals,” he said.

Eye Camp Part Of Wider Community Initiative

Anjani Sharma, Secretary of the RWA, said the eye camp was part of the residents’ broader efforts to improve the quality of life in the colony. “Over the past four months, our association has worked consistently to improve the residents’ daily lives. We have installed house number plates on every home across both lanes, put up a colony signboard, repaired damaged manhole covers, facilitated new Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections for homes that lacked them, installed new streetlights, and arranged for regular street cleaning and anti-mosquito fogging. Today’s eye check-up camp is a natural extension of this commitment,” he said.

Senior advocate M P Dixit, who hosted the camp, said the turnout reflected the growing confidence of residents in the RWA. “The turnout today was extremely encouraging and demonstrates the confidence residents have placed in this association. In just four months, our RWA has shown that collective effort can bring about tangible and visible changes in a neighbourhood. What makes this journey particularly gratifying is that every initiative has originated from the residents themselves,” he said.

Organisers upbeat with participation

The camp was organised under the aegis of the RWA working committee, which was formed in May 2026. The Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital team at the camp included Dr Ahmed Ali, Payal Firdous, Pooja Singh, Shivani Singh, Priya Pandey, Pintu Kumar, Nikhil, Radha and Chandan. RWA members Jagdish Upadhyay, Hareram Pandey, Arun Singh, Shailesh Kumar and others were also involved in organising and facilitating the camp.
