Patna: Bihar will see changing weather conditions between September 14 and 18, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing yellow alerts for different districts on separate days.
According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds of 30–40 kmph will be possible in the districts under the yellow alert.
The alert will cover 18 districts on September 14, increase to 20 districts on September 15, and expand to 32 districts on September 16 and 17. On September 18, the alert will remain in place for 12 districts.
September 14: Yellow Alert For 18 Districts
On September 14, yellow alerts will be in place for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria and Kishanganj.
The alert will also cover Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Arwal and Jehanabad.
Thunderstorms and strong winds of 30–40 kmph will be possible in these districts.
September 15: Weather Alert For 20 Districts
On September 15, the yellow alert will cover Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Vaishali and Samastipur.
The alert will also extend to Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnia, Katihar, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur, Lakhisarai, Jamui and Banka.
Thunderstorms and strong winds will be possible across these districts.
September 16–17: Yellow Alert To Cover 32 Districts
The weather alert will expand further on September 16 and 17, when 32 districts will remain under a yellow alert.
These will include West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Samastipur, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnia, Katihar, Patna, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Nawada and Gaya.
The affected districts will have the possibility of thunderstorms and winds reaching 30–40 kmph.
Meanwhile, Kaimur, Rohtas, Buxar, Bhojpur, Arwal and Aurangabad will experience comparatively normal weather during this period.
September 18: Alert To Remain In 12 Districts
On September 18, the yellow alert will remain in effect for Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnia, Katihar, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka and Jamui.
These districts will again face the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds of 30–40 kmph.
Weather Conditions To Remain Changeable
The forecast indicates that weather conditions will vary considerably across Bihar during the five-day period.
While the number of districts under the yellow alert will change from day to day, the common concern will be thunderstorms and strong winds. Residents in the affected districts will need to remain alert to changing weather conditions between September 14 and 18.
