Gaya: In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Bahera Police in Gaya district seized 302 kilograms of ganja from a parcel van reportedly coming from the Jharkhand side. Two youths from Patna district were arrested during the operation, police said.
According to officials, the arrested individuals are residents of the Athmalgola police station area in Patna district. Both accused are currently being interrogated to determine their role in the alleged smuggling network.
Police said the consignment was recovered during a vehicle checking operation conducted by the Bahera Police. The parcel van was intercepted on suspicion, following which officers carried out a search and recovered the cannabis packets concealed inside the vehicle.
Contraband Worth Around Rs 50 Lakh
Officials estimated the value of the seized ganja at around Rs 50 lakh in the international market. The recovered consignment has been confiscated and sent for further legal procedures.
Police are now investigating the source of the narcotics and the intended delivery point. Efforts are also underway to identify other individuals linked to the supply chain and transportation network.
NDPS Act Charges Initiated
The police stated that legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
