Patna: Gold prices extended their decline on Tuesday, July 14, with the price of 24-carat gold falling by Rs 476 per 10 grams, according to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA).
The latest correction has taken the price of 24-carat gold to Rs 1.42 lakh per 10 grams, while silver bucked the trend, rising by Rs 849 to Rs 2.19 lakh per kilogram.
Gold Down Rs 34,000 From January Peak
Gold has witnessed sharp fluctuations so far this year.
According to IBJA data, the price of 24-carat gold stood at Rs 1.33 lakh per 10 grams on December 31, 2025 before climbing to an all-time high of Rs 1.76 lakh on January 29.
Since that peak, gold prices have declined by around Rs 34,000 per 10 grams.
Silver Also Off Record High
Silver has followed a similar trajectory.
Its price increased from Rs 2.30 lakh per kilogram on December 31, 2025 to a record Rs 3.86 lakh on January 29.
Over the following 166 days, however, silver prices fell by Rs 1.66 lakh per kilogram, despite Monday’s modest recovery.
Why Are Gold And Silver Prices Falling?
Market analysts attribute the decline to two key factors.
A stronger US dollar: The US Dollar Index has strengthened after signals from the US Federal Reserve, making gold and silver relatively less attractive in global markets.
Profit-booking: After both precious metals touched record highs earlier this year, many institutional and retail investors booked profits, leading to a correction in prices.
What Should Investors Do?
Commodity market expert Ajay Kedia said gold and silver have corrected significantly from their record highs.
He suggested that investors looking to enter the market may consider buying gradually instead of making a lump-sum investment.
According to Kedia, gold could recover to around Rs 1.60 lakh per 10 grams by the end of the year, while silver may climb to around Rs 2.80 lakh per kilogram, depending on global market conditions.
