Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has deployed 19 Quick Response Teams (QRTs) across the city to strengthen its response to waterlogging during the monsoon season.
The teams were formally flagged off on July 14 on the directions of the Municipal Commissioner. According to the civic body, the QRTs will function as first responders and coordinate with the central control room to ensure prompt drainage wherever waterlogging is reported.
Teams to Function as First Responders
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Additional Municipal Commissioner Rajan Sinha said the teams would maintain continuous communication with the control room and senior officials through walkie-talkies.
He said the teams would respond immediately to complaints of waterlogging and take necessary measures to restore normal drainage as quickly as possible.
City Divided Into 19 Operational Zones
To streamline operations, PMC has divided all 75 wards into 19 operational zones.
Each zone will have one zonal inspector and two sanitation workers dedicated to the Quick Response Team. The teams have been deployed across Nutan Rajdhani, Pataliputra, Kankarbagh, Bankipur, Patna City and Azimabad circles to provide citywide coverage.
Focus on Coordination and Rapid Response
According to the civic body, the initiative is intended to improve coordination between field teams and the control room while ensuring faster action during heavy rainfall.
Officials said the deployment is part of the corporation’s monsoon preparedness plan to minimise disruption caused by waterlogging and improve public safety.
Teams to Remain on Round-the-Clock Duty
Patna Municipal Corporation said all 19 Quick Response Teams will remain on duty 24 hours a day throughout the monsoon season.
The civic body said rapid response, efficient drainage and coordinated field operations will remain its priorities to ensure the safety and convenience of residents during periods of heavy rainfall.
