Gold Up Rs 20,000 In 2026

Gold has recorded a significant increase since the beginning of the year.

On December 31, 2025, 10 grams of gold was priced at more than Rs 1.33 lakh. The rate has now climbed to around Rs 1.53 lakh, representing an increase of roughly Rs 20,000.

Silver, meanwhile, has risen from around Rs 2.30 lakh per kg at the end of 2025 to Rs 2.35 lakh currently.

Both metals have also experienced substantial volatility during the year. Gold reached a reported peak of Rs 1.76 lakh per 10 grams on January 29, while silver touched Rs 3.86 lakh per kg.

Could Gold Reach Rs 1.60 Lakh?

Commodity expert Ajay Kedia expects gold to potentially reach Rs 1.60 lakh per 10 grams by the end of the year, while silver could reach Rs 2.80 lakh per kg.

The outlook comes after both precious metals fell significantly from their earlier peaks, with investors continuing to show interest in gold and silver.

Kedia has, however, advised against making a lump-sum investment, suggesting that investors should consider their approach carefully rather than committing their entire investment at once.

Two Things To Check Before Buying Gold

Consumers buying gold from jewellers have been advised to pay particular attention to purity and pricing.

Buy certified gold: Buyers should look for a BIS hallmark on gold jewellery. The hallmark identification is alphanumeric and indicates the purity of the gold.

Check the day’s price: Buyers should verify the weight and prevailing price before making a purchase. Rates differ according to purity, including 24-carat, 22-carat and 18-carat gold.

With gold and silver prices continuing to fluctuate, the latest rise adds another layer of uncertainty for both consumers and investors watching the precious metals market.
