Gold remains significantly costlier in 2026
Despite the latest decline, gold has risen sharply since the beginning of the year. On December 31, 2025, 10 grams of gold was priced at around Rs 1.33 lakh, compared with Rs 1.58 lakh now.
Silver has also gained during the same period, rising from Rs 2.30 lakh per kg at the end of 2025 to around Rs 2.40 lakh currently.
The precious metals have experienced substantial volatility this year. Gold touched an all-time high of Rs 1.76 lakh per 10 grams, while silver reached an all-time high of Rs 3.86 lakh per kg on January 29.
The latest movement comes as buyers in Bihar and across the country observe Raksha Bandhan, a festival traditionally associated with increased purchases of jewellery and other gifts.
