Patna: Google is reportedly working on a powerful new artificial intelligence assistant called “Remy”, a project that could change the way people manage their daily digital lives. The company is preparing to upgrade its Gemini AI platform into something much more advanced than a simple chatbot. Instead of only answering questions or generating text, Remy is being designed to actively perform tasks for users and operate like a full-time personal assistant available 24 hours a day.
According to reports based on internal company documents, Remy will be able to understand a user’s habits, priorities and routines over time. The AI assistant is expected to manage emails, organise calendars, reply to messages, browse websites and even complete online tasks automatically. Google is reportedly integrating the system deeply into its own services so that the assistant can work smoothly across apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar and other platforms connected to the company’s ecosystem.
The project shows how major technology companies are now competing to create AI systems that can act independently instead of simply responding to commands. Experts believe this is the next big step in artificial intelligence. Rather than asking users to perform every task manually, companies want AI assistants to handle routine work on their own. In Remy’s case, the assistant may eventually be able to remind users about important events, manage work schedules and even respond to communications without constant supervision.
Many observers have compared the project to OpenClaw, an AI assistant platform that became widely discussed earlier this year before being acquired by OpenAI. OpenClaw attracted attention because it could interact with apps and websites in a way that felt more human and practical. At the moment, Google has not officially confirmed when Remy will be released to the public. Reports suggest the project is currently in the “dogfooding” stage, meaning Google employees are testing the assistant internally before launch. The name “Remy” has also created curiosity online. Some experts believe it comes from the Latin word Remigus, meaning “oarsman” or “rower”, symbolising continuous work and support. Others have linked the name to Remy from Ratatouille, a character known for quietly working behind the scenes to create something extraordinary. Whether symbolic or not, the name reflects Google’s larger goal of building an AI assistant that can work constantly in the background to simplify everyday life.
