Ranchi: The Governor of Jharkhand, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, on Wednesday, released the book ‘Trends in Hindi Children’s Poetry’ at Lok Bhavan in Ranchi, marking a significant contribution to the study of children’s literature in India. The Governor praised the author, Dr Aman Kumar, for producing a research-oriented work and wished him success in his academic and professional pursuits.
Speaking at the event, Dr Kumar underlined the importance of literature, particularly poetry, in the holistic development of young children. He said children’s poetry plays a vital role in improving language skills and communication abilities, while also helping instil moral values and positive habits at an early age.
The book focuses on how poetry can aid the development of communication systems among children and support learning through creative expression. Drawing on detailed research, it examines the impact of poems on the mental development of children and their ability to build social interaction skills, especially among those aged between two and six years. The work is being described as one of the first comprehensive research studies dedicated to Hindi children’s poetry.
Dr Kumar, who studied mass communication, said his long-standing interest in using children’s poetry as a tool for dialogue and value formation inspired the book. He currently works as a channel operations specialist at Doordarshan Jharkhand, where he continues to engage with educational and cultural content.
The book launch was attended by senior officials from Doordarshan and All India Radio, including Doordarshan Jharkhand programme head Amit Kumar and Govind Kumar Jha. Several other officials and colleagues also congratulated the author, highlighting the book’s relevance for educators, parents and researchers alike.
