Hajipur/Patna : The Vaishali district administration has introduced special traffic arrangements in Hajipur for Durga Puja and Dussehra to manage crowds and ensure smoother movement around major पूजा pandals.
Under the revised plan, three-wheelers, four-wheelers and heavy goods vehicles will be restricted from operating inside designated city areas between 4 pm and midnight every day until October 22. Motorcycles are exempt from this restriction, according to the published traffic advisory.
The measures are intended to reduce congestion and make it easier for devotees to visit puja pandals during the evening rush.
Auto-Rickshaws and Cars Restricted From 4 PM
The restrictions will apply daily from 4 pm to 12 midnight during the notified period.
Vehicles covered by the restrictions include:
- Three-wheelers, including auto-rickshaws
- Four-wheelers, including cars
- Heavy goods vehicles
Motorcycles are exempt from the stated restriction. Ambulances, school buses, fire engines, police vehicles and other vehicles associated with essential services will also be allowed to operate.
The administration has introduced the restrictions to control traffic near crowded religious sites and prevent congestion during peak visiting hours.
Barricades and Drop Gates at 14 Locations
To implement the traffic plan, barricades and drop gates are being arranged at 14 key and sensitive locations across the city.
These measures are intended to regulate vehicle movement and prevent unauthorised traffic from entering restricted stretches near major puja locations.
At the station road in front of Ramashish Chowk, public announcements through loudspeakers will be used to inform commuters about traffic routes and restrictions.
Major Puja Pandals Expected to Draw Crowds
Preparations for Durga Puja are underway at several prominent locations in Hajipur. Puja committees are constructing and decorating pandals at places including:
- Rajendra Chowk
- Station Chowk
- Subhash Chowk
- Anwarpur Chowk
- Asadoma Chowk
- Nakhas Chowk
- Chauhatta Chowk
- Ramjivan Chowk
- Rambalak Chowk
Artisans are working to complete the pandals and decorations ahead of the festival. The growing number of visitors is expected to increase pressure on roads around these locations, particularly during evening hours.
Administration Aims to Reduce Traffic Congestion
The revised arrangements are intended to keep roads near pandals accessible to pedestrians and devotees while reducing traffic jams during Durga Puja and Dussehra.
Commuters travelling through Hajipur should plan their journeys accordingly, allow extra time and follow instructions issued by traffic personnel. Drivers of restricted vehicles should check local diversion signs and announcements before entering the city during the notified hours.
