Harihar Kshetra Sonepur Mela to Showcase Bihar’s Eco-Tourism and Conservation Efforts

Bihar Forest Department Addresses Delays in National Highway Projects in Assembly

Patna: The Departmental Exhibition at the Harihar Kshetra Sonepur Mela 2024 is set to be inaugurated on November 25 at 4 pm by Dr. Prem Kumar, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The minister will unveil a model showcasing the state’s initiatives in eco-tourism for the general public, highlighting significant sites and projects that promote sustainable tourism and conservation in Bihar.

The exhibition will feature live models of prominent eco-tourism destinations, including Tutla Bhavani Temple, Rohtasgarh Fort, Rajgir Zoo Safari, Eco Park Patna, Mandar Parvat, Bhim Dam, Vikramshila Ganga Dolphin Sanctuary, and Valmiki Tiger Reserve. Alongside these displays, the achievements and ongoing efforts of the Bihar State Pollution Control Board and Bihar State Biodiversity Board will also be highlighted.

During the program, the minister will engage with beneficiary farmers and members of Jeevika Didi involved in the Agro Forestry Scheme. This interaction aims to showcase the impact of agroforestry initiatives in improving livelihoods while promoting environmental sustainability.

Senior officials, including Principal Chief Conservator of Forests P.K. Gupta, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests A.K. Dwivedi, Regional Chief Conservator of Forests K. Ganesh Kumar, and Forest Division Officer Alok Kumar, among others, will participate in the event. The exhibition serves as a platform to inform and inspire the public about Bihar’s commitment to eco-tourism, biodiversity, and climate resilience.
