Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed senior officials to speed up the implementation of development schemes announced during the Pragati Yatra, saying the work must move faster to deliver benefits to people across Bihar. At a high-level review meeting held in Patna on Wednesday, he stressed that all departments should complete pending projects as soon as possible.
Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit stated in the meeting that 430 schemes across 22 departments were approved during the Pragati Yatra. Of these, 428 schemes have been formally cleared by the departments, while two Water Resources Department schemes were rejected for being technically unsuitable. He said 21 schemes have already been completed, while work on the remaining projects is progressing rapidly and is expected to be finished on schedule.
Nitish Kumar reminded officials that he visited every district during the Pragati Yatra in December 2024 and January–February 2025 to assess development work and gather feedback from people. Based on the issues he observed and the concerns shared by residents, the government approved Rs 50,000 crore worth of new schemes. He said these projects must be reviewed regularly and executed without delay to ensure equal progress across all 38 districts.
The chief minister said the state government is committed to all-round development and wants to ensure that every community benefits from these initiatives. He added that all departments must work with seriousness, sensitivity and urgency. “Our goal is to make Bihar one of the top five developed states in the country,” he said.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, senior secretaries of various departments, and officials from the chief minister’s office.
