Health Minister Hails Bihar Cabinet’s Approval of Cancer Care and Research Society as ‘Historic Step’

Patna: Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey has hailed the state cabinet’s approval of the Cancer Care and Research Society as a “historic and unprecedented decision” towards strengthening cancer treatment and research in the state.
Expressing his gratitude to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Pandey said the move reflected Bihar’s commitment to far-reaching reforms in the healthcare sector. “Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Bihar is continuously working towards transformative steps in healthcare, and the formation of the Cancer Care and Research Society is a major milestone in that direction,” Pandey said.
The minister emphasised that the society will act as a dedicated, autonomous institution to provide timely and specialised treatment to cancer patients, while also enhancing public awareness, training, and research. He added that the decision comes in response to the growing burden of cancer cases detected through screening and the urgent need for an organised, accessible cancer care system in Bihar.
“This will ensure not just quicker treatment but also focused public awareness campaigns and significant advances in research and training, which will ultimately lead to unprecedented improvements in the quality and reach of cancer care in the state,” Pandey said.
