Patna: The monsoon has turned active in Bihar, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue rain alerts across the state. A yellow alert has been sounded in all 36 districts, including Patna, while an orange alert warning of heavy rainfall has been issued for West Champaran and Gopalganj.
According to the forecast, districts under yellow alert may experience winds of up to 40 km per hour along with lightning. The Met Department has urged citizens to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.
Rainfall in the Last 24 Hours
In the past 24 hours, Patna witnessed heavy rainfall, while intermittent showers were recorded in Nawada, Nalanda, Munger, Araria, Samastipur, and Jamui. Due to the continuous downpour, the maximum temperature in Patna dropped by 9 degrees Celsius, settling at 27.7°C, bringing much-needed relief from the humid conditions.
Meanwhile, flood conditions continue to worsen in Munger, where 33 panchayats across six blocks are affected, impacting over two lakh people. The Ganga River in the district is flowing just two centimeters below the danger mark. Rising water levels of the Ganga have heightened flood threats in Patna, Munger, Vaishali, and Bhagalpur, where residents are struggling with waterlogging and overflow.
