Patna: The monsoon has become active once again in Bihar, bringing widespread rainfall and cloudy skies across the state. Patna witnessed rain late on Friday night, followed by overcast conditions throughout Saturday morning. Heavy rain has been reported from Shivhar, Bagaha, Bettiah, Motihari, Supaul, and Samastipur, with intermittent showers continuing in several regions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for all districts of Bihar today. A yellow alert has been declared for 35 districts, while orange alerts have been issued for three districts, warning of heavy rainfall. Districts under yellow alert may experience light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds, whereas those under orange alert are expected to receive intense downpours.
According to the IMD forecast, the current weather pattern is likely to persist until October 7, with light to heavy rainfall predicted in most parts of the state.
Deep Depression Over Bay of Bengal Behind Weather Shift
Meteorologists attribute the renewed monsoon activity to a deep depression formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal. The system, located around 160 km off the Gopalpur coast in Odisha, is moving northwards and influencing weather conditions in eastern India. The depression is expected to impact coastal Odisha and Andhra Pradesh between October 4 and 5 before extending its effects to Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Temperature Update
In the past 24 hours, Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 34°C, while Darbhanga was the hottest district at 34.7°C. Banka remained the coolest at 31.8°C.
Meteorologists advise residents to remain cautious over the next few days, as continuous rainfall could lead to waterlogging and disruption of normal life in low-lying areas.
