Patna: Vehicle owners across the state have been advised not to panic if they continue receiving SMS alerts regarding the installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) even after fitting them on their vehicles. The transport department said such notifications are being sent automatically to vehicles whose HSRP details are not updated in the official database.
The department has reiterated that the installation of HSRP is mandatory for all categories of vehicles. Owners whose vehicles are yet to be fitted with the tamper-proof plates have been urged to get them installed through authorised dealers or designated agencies without delay to comply with regulatory requirements.
According to transport department secretary Raj Kumar, a departmental review found that many vehicles already have HSRP physically installed but the corresponding information has not been uploaded to the vehicle software system. As a result, automated SMS reminders continue to be sent to registered mobile numbers. Officials have advised such vehicle owners to visit their respective District Transport Office (DTO) to update their records and avoid potential inconvenience or punitive action.
Authorities also clarified that continued SMS alerts do not indicate non-compliance if the plate has already been installed. Instead, vehicle owners must ensure that their HSRP details are verified and uploaded on the official vehicle portal. The department has directed all district transport officers to identify vehicles with missing data, verify installation, and promptly update records to streamline enforcement and improve compliance.
