Patna: Demonstrating excellence in machine learning innovation, teams from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna have achieved remarkable success at the Amazon ML Challenge 2025, one of India’s most prestigious national-level competitions in artificial intelligence.
Among more than 82,000 participating teams from top engineering institutes nationwide, Team “Test Data” from IIT Patna clinched the 5th position, while Team “Apex” secured the 24th rank, placing both within the top 50 in the country.
Team “Test Data” consists of Animesh Tripathy, Kanahia, Anubhav Chandak, and Kaustubh Kumar, while Team “Apex” includes S. Akash, Anirudh D. Bhat, and Ammar Ahmad.
Congratulating the students, Prof. T. N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna, praised their performance, saying it reflects the institute’s growing strength in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) research. Faculty members including Prof. A. K. Thakur (Dean Administration & Registrar) and Dr. N. K. Tomar (Associate Dean, Resource) also extended their congratulations to the teams for their outstanding achievement.
The Amazon ML Challenge is a two-stage national competition that allows students to work on real-world datasets from Amazon and design innovative machine learning solutions. It is open to full-time engineering students pursuing Ph.D., M.Tech., M.E., M.S., or B.Tech. degrees across India, particularly from the graduating batches of 2026 and 2027.
The top three teams will receive cash prizes, while the top 10 teams will be awarded certificates and goodies. Notably, the top 50 teams, including both IIT Patna groups, will gain Pre-Placement Interview (PPI) opportunities for the role of Applied Scientist Intern at Amazon.
