Patna: Students enrolled in IIT Patna’s hybrid-mode degree programmes have recorded strong placement outcomes, with 44 undergraduate and postgraduate students from the 2026 cohort securing packages of more than Rs 42 lakh.

Packages for students from programmes including M.Tech in AI and Data Science Engineering (AIDSE), MBA, BBA and B.Sc in Computer Science and Data Analytics (CSDA) reached up to Rs 56 lakh.

Hybrid Programmes Launched In 2023

According to IIT Patna Registrar Prof A.K. Thakur, the hybrid programmes were introduced to align with the changing requirements of the global job market and the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The degree programmes were launched in 2023 after receiving approval from the institute’s Senate and Board of Governors. The programmes use a credit-based structure and curricula designed to meet global standards.

Enrolment Rises Since Launch

Enrolment in the hybrid programmes has increased significantly since their introduction.

The institute recorded 1,892 students in 2023, followed by 3,800 in 2024. The figure rose to 5,411 in 2025, while 5,285 students enrolled in 2026.

Different Admission Routes For UG And PG

Admission to undergraduate hybrid programmes is based on JEE and CUET scores and percentiles.

Postgraduate programmes are primarily aimed at experienced working professionals. IIT Patna has so far awarded degrees to two postgraduate batches and one undergraduate batch through the hybrid mode across two convocation ceremonies.

Short-Term Courses And Internship Opportunities

IIT Patna has also introduced 10 short-term certificate programmes, with course durations ranging from six to 11 months. The programmes are intended to support skill development among working professionals.

Students enrolled in the hybrid programmes are being provided internship opportunities with approximately 1,000 companies.

The institute is also developing facilities, including a 738-bed hostel, a 500-computer laboratory and a digital library, using internal resources to support greater campus immersion.

Programmes Span AI, Data Science And Cybersecurity

At the undergraduate level, IIT Patna offers hybrid programmes including BBA, BS in CSDA and BS in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security (AICS).

The institute also offers dual-degree options such as BBA-MBA, BS-MS CSDA and BS-MS AICS.

Its postgraduate offerings include MS CSDA, MS AICS, MBA, MBA in Generative AI and Project Management, M.Tech in AI and Data Science Engineering-CSE, and M.Tech in Cloud Computing and Blockchain.
