Patna: The Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) has concluded the fifth edition of its 12-day INFRA-IMPACT Capacity Enhancement Programme for engineers of Bihar’s Rural Works Department, with officials describing the initiative as an important step towards strengthening technical expertise in the infrastructure sector.
Organised by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the programme ran from May 8 to May 19 and focused on improving professional and technical capabilities in infrastructure planning, design, monitoring and evaluation.

Programme Focused On Technical Capacity Building
According to institute officials, the programme included:
- Expert lectures
- Technical discussions
- Hands-on learning sessions
- Knowledge-sharing workshops
The initiative aimed to create a platform for professional skill enhancement and practical learning for participating engineers from the Rural Works Department.
Officials said the programme focused particularly on strengthening understanding of infrastructure performance assessment and project implementation practices.

IIT Patna Director Highlights Role Of Infrastructure
The valedictory ceremony was attended by IIT Patna’s director T N Singh as chief guest.
Addressing participants, Singh said infrastructure development played a crucial role in social and economic progress.
“Roads do not only connect people, they also connect hearts,” he said, while emphasising the importance of engineers in nation-building and inclusive development.
He also stressed the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable progress.
“Creation and development are always a matter of togetherness; no individual alone can achieve completeness. It is collaboration and totality that bring prosperity and meaningful progress,” he said.

The concluding ceremony was also attended by Subrata Hait along with programme convenors:

Institute officials credited the organising team for the successful execution of the programme and said such initiatives would continue to support professional development within Bihar’s infrastructure and public works sectors.
