Patna: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna will host an international conference on condensed matter physics from December 8–11, 2024. The event aims to advance research and foster global collaboration in the field, bringing together leading scholars, researchers, and practitioners from across the globe.
The conference will delve into cutting-edge topics, including two-dimensional materials, quantum and topological condensed matter, nano and functional materials, renewable energy systems, magnetism, superconductivity, advanced devices, artificial intelligence applications in physics, and emerging research areas.
Over the four-day event, attendees will participate in 65 invited talks, 30 contributory oral presentations, and 180 poster sessions. The program also includes technical sessions and keynote speeches, providing a platform for intellectual exchange and innovation.
Esteemed speakers such as Professor Nojiri (Japan), Professor Yusuf (BARC), and Professor Srinivasan (Director, CIT Kokrajhar) will address critical themes in contemporary physics, highlighting their social and technological implications. The conference will feature three parallel sessions tailored to specific subfields, offering participants the opportunity to engage deeply in their areas of interest.
Supported by the Division of Condensed Matter Physics (DCMP) and the Association of Asia-Pacific Physics Society, the conference is sponsored by prominent organizations, including SERB (ANRF), JEOL, DRDO, BRNS, Quantum Design, and IOP Publishing, among others.
The organizing committee includes Prof. T. N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna, as Patron; Prof. A. K. Thakur, Head of the Department of Physics, as Technical Chair; and Dr. Manoranjan Kar and Dr. Ajay D. Thakur as Conveners. Other key members include Dr. Soumya Jyoti Ray as Secretary and Dr. C. S. Prajapati as Treasurer.
Speaking about the event, Director Prof. T. N. Singh expressed his enthusiasm, welcoming participants and invited guests to IIT Patna on December 8. The conveners, Dr. Kar and Dr. Thakur, emphasized the significance of the conference, describing it as a landmark event for Bihar. They noted its potential to enhance IIT Patna’s visibility and inspire groundbreaking research ideas, with contributions from both international and local participants.
