Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 13 districts of Bihar for September 19, forecasting rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in parts of the state.
The weather warning covers districts in southwestern and northeastern Bihar. Winds are expected to reach 30–40 kmph in the areas likely to experience thunderstorms and rain.
In southwestern Bihar, the alert covers Kaimur, Rohtas, Buxar, Bhojpur, Aurangabad and Arwal. Thunderstorms accompanied by rain and gusty winds are likely in these districts.
In northeastern Bihar, Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia and Katihar are also under the yellow alert.
The remaining districts are expected to experience generally normal weather, with no specific warning issued for September 19.
Patna To Remain Partly Cloudy
The Patna Meteorological Centre has forecast partly cloudy conditions in the capital from September 19 to September 21.
On September 19, Patna is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 36°C and a minimum temperature of 28°C. Similar temperatures are likely on September 20 and 21, with partly cloudy skies.
On September 22, weather conditions may change, with rain or thundershowers possible in Patna. The maximum temperature may remain around 35°C, while the minimum could be around 27°C.
Monsoon Withdrawal Begins From Northwest India
The IMD has indicated that the southwest monsoon is expected to begin withdrawing from parts of northwest India around September 19.
However, the monsoon normally withdraws from Bihar later, generally during the first or second week of October. Weather conditions in the state are therefore expected to remain variable through the latter part of September, with intermittent rainfall possible.
The monsoon’s complete withdrawal from Bihar is expected in the early part of October, depending on prevailing atmospheric conditions.
Weather Conditions To Remain Variable
The latest forecast indicates that while most of Bihar is expected to see normal conditions, isolated parts of the state may experience thunderstorms, rain and gusty winds.
Residents in the districts under the yellow alert should remain attentive to local weather updates, particularly during periods of thunderstorms and strong winds.
