Radha Ashtami Falls 15 Days After Janmashtami
Radha Ashtami is observed 15 days after Krishna Janmashtami and is regarded by devotees as the appearance day of Radha Rani.
Radhapati Charan Das, a member of the ISKCON Temple Management Council, said the term “appearance day” is used rather than “birth” in the tradition because the birth and actions of the divine are considered transcendental.
He said Radha Rani is regarded in ISKCON theology as the antaranga, or internal, spiritual energy of Lord Krishna.
The temple management said the significance of Radha Ashtami will also be explained to devotees through the religious discourse, including discussions on Radha Rani’s pastimes and theological significance.
