Patna: BJP national president and Rajya Sabha MP Nitin Nabin has announced a contribution of Rs 6.35 lakh to the Bihar Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, equivalent to three months of his salary as a Rajya Sabha member.
Nabin announced the contribution on September 18, saying it was intended to support relief efforts for families affected by flooding in Bihar. The contribution has also been reported by All India Radio and other news agencies.
In his statement, Nabin said the flood situation in Bihar was being monitored and that efforts were underway to ensure timely relief and essential assistance reached affected people.
Relief And Financial Assistance For Flood-Affected Families
Nabin said the state government had provided Rs 7,000 per flood-affected family, with total financial assistance exceeding Rs 550 crore, according to his statement.
He also referred to arrangements being made in affected areas, including relief camps, community kitchens, medical facilities and fodder for livestock.
Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed for rescue and relief operations, he said.
Crop Damage Assessment Underway
Nabin also said that the assessment of crop damage in flood-affected areas was underway. Assistance for farmers will be provided based on the assessment and applicable relief measures, according to his statement.
The flood response also includes relief and rehabilitation measures for affected families, with authorities continuing to assess damage in affected areas.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan Reviews Flood Situation
Nabin also referred to Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s visit to flood-affected areas of Bihar. Chouhan recently conducted aerial and ground-level assessments and reviewed relief arrangements with state officials.
The contribution announced by Nabin comes as Bihar continues its relief and rescue operations in flood-affected areas, with government agencies working on immediate assistance as well as damage assessment.
