Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation has initiated action against alleged irregularities and unauthorised collections at civic parking sites, with an FIR registered against Amazing India Private Limited in connection with a parking facility in Kankarbagh.
The case relates to the Municipal Corporation parking site located opposite Medanta Hospital in Ward 35, where the civic body received information that street vendors and cart operators were allegedly being charged between Rs 100 and Rs 300 for being provided space at the site.
FIR Registered In Kankarbagh
Taking note of the matter, Patna Municipal Corporation filed an FIR against Amazing India Private Limited at Kankarbagh police station.
According to the civic body, the site had been developed as a smart parking facility, and the company had been given the work order to operate and collect parking fees in accordance with the prescribed provisions.
The corporation said it came to know that instead of restricting operations to the authorised parking activity, parts of the site were allegedly being used to provide space to carts and vendors in return for separate payments.
Complaints From Local Residents
The corporation also said that local residents had complained of demands for money described as “rangdari” in connection with the use of the site.
Based on the complaints and information received, the municipal corporation said it took action and lodged the FIR according to the applicable rules.
Civic Body Steps Up Action
The development comes as the Patna Municipal Corporation is taking action against irregularities in the operation of municipal parking facilities. The corporation said it is examining complaints and information relating to unauthorised collections and taking action where violations are found.
The allegations against Amazing India Private Limited are subject to investigation by the police and other relevant authorities.
