Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation is conducting a series of cleanliness, awareness and public participation activities across the city under the Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan 2026, launched as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0.
The campaign includes mobile RRR (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle) vans, educational visits for students, special sanitation drives around religious venues and initiatives to involve citizens in improving waste management.
Mobile RRR Vans Collect Reusable Items
The municipal corporation is operating mobile RRR vans to collect old clothes, books, toys, shoes, utensils and other usable household items from residents.
Items collected through the initiative are being channelled to people in need through the corporation’s teams. The initiative is intended to reduce the amount of waste generated while promoting the concept of ‘Swachhata Se Samriddhi’ through reuse and recycling.
As part of the drive, an RRR collection campaign was held on Friday in Ward 57 of the Azimabad circle. Residents were encouraged to hand over unused household items for reuse or recycling instead of throwing them away.
The collected materials will subsequently be distributed among people in need.
Students Visit Beur Sewage Treatment Plant
Under the campaign’s ‘Swachhata Gyan Yatra’, students of Kamla Nehru Balika Vidyalaya were taken on an educational visit to the sewage treatment plant at Beur by the Patna Municipal Corporation team.
The students learned about the treatment process for sewage and wastewater and were briefed on the importance of water management and environmental protection.
They were encouraged to make cleanliness part of their daily routine and understand their role as responsible citizens in conserving water and maintaining a clean environment. The students also took a pledge to promote cleanliness and water conservation.
Special Cleaning Around Ganesh Puja Pandal
A special cleanliness drive was also conducted around a Ganesh Puja pandal and adjoining areas in Ward 12 under the New Capital Circle.
Waste was collected and arrangements were made for its proper disposal. Devotees and local residents were also encouraged to keep both the puja venue and surrounding areas clean and participate actively in cleanliness initiatives.
Public Participation To Improve Waste Sites
As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, the municipal corporation plans to undertake public participation-based initiatives to improve various waste collection and disposal sites across Patna.
The campaign will also include programmes aimed at involving young people, including Swachhata Gyan Yatra, interaction programmes, Safai Mitra honour camps, sports competitions and the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, along with activities promoting ‘Swachhata Se Samriddhi’.
The campaign will continue throughout the month, with the civic body emphasising that cleanliness should be treated not only as the responsibility of the municipal corporation but as a shared responsibility of citizens.
