Patna: A cyclonic circulation extending from eastern Uttar Pradesh through Bihar to Bangladesh is likely to bring changes in weather conditions across the state, according to the Meteorological Centre in Patna.
The weather office said most parts of Bihar are expected to witness partly cloudy skies, with wind speeds reaching up to 50 kmph at some places. There is also a possibility of light rainfall accompanied by thunder in isolated areas.
Over the next three to four days, temperatures are likely to rise by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius, indicating a gradual warming trend despite intermittent rain activity.
On Thursday, Kishanganj recorded strong winds with speeds of up to 46 kmph. Rainfall was reported in several districts over the past 24 hours, with Jamui recording the highest precipitation at 40.2 mm.
Other areas that received notable rainfall include Laxmipur in Jamui (38.6 mm), Kawakol in Nawada (26.2 mm), Sikti in Araria (24.2 mm), Kursela in Katihar (21.2 mm), Rajaun in Banka (20.2 mm), Sono in Jamui (16.2 mm), Manihari in Katihar (16.2 mm), and Parbatta in Khagaria (15.4 mm).
Additional rainfall was recorded in Tedhagachh in Kishanganj (14.8 mm), Sangrampur in Munger (13.2 mm), Govindpur in Nawada (12.8 mm), Nathnagar in Bhagalpur (12.6 mm), Tarapur in Munger (12.2 mm), Chargharia in Kishanganj (11.2 mm), and Bihpur in Bhagalpur (10.2 mm).
Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 31.5°C, while the highest temperature in the state was 34.5°C in Kaimur. Except for districts such as Chhapra, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnia, Araria and Kishanganj, most parts of the state, including Patna, witnessed a rise in maximum temperatures. Weather conditions remained largely normal in the capital and several other regions.
Among major cities, Patna recorded a maximum of 31.5°C and a minimum of 21.0°C, Gaya 32.4°C and 19.8°C, Bhagalpur 29.5°C and 19.6°C, and Muzaffarpur 33.2°C and 20.3°C.
The Meteorological Department has advised residents to stay alert as changing weather patterns may bring gusty winds and brief spells of rain in the coming days.
