Patna: The Department of Posts is preparing to expand its premium mail and parcel services to several cities in Bihar as part of an initiative to improve delivery speed, reliability and customer experience.
Under the proposed rollout, the department plans to introduce “24 Speed Post” and “48 Speed Post” services in Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur after their implementation in metropolitan cities including Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Guaranteed Delivery Timelines
According to the Department of Posts, the “24 Speed Post” service aims to deliver consignments within 24 hours, while the “48 Speed Post” service targets delivery within 48 hours.
The department has also proposed a money-back guarantee, under which customers will be eligible for a full refund if consignments are not delivered within the promised time frame, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
Rollout Planned In Phases
The premium services are currently available in selected metropolitan cities and will be introduced in additional locations through a phased expansion.
The next phase includes key cities in Bihar, where the department aims to strengthen premium logistics services for individual and business customers.
Enhanced Security And Tracking
The new services will include OTP-based delivery verification to improve the security of consignments.
Customers will also have access to real-time parcel tracking and SMS notifications, allowing them to monitor the status of their shipments throughout the delivery process.
Features For Businesses And E-Commerce
The Department of Posts has also announced additional facilities for merchants and e-commerce businesses using its premium logistics network.
These include free parcel pick-up, a “Book Now, Pay Later” option and centralized billing, measures intended to simplify operations and improve logistics efficiency for commercial users.
