Indian Institute of Technology Patna and University of Technology Sydney Sign Memorandum of Understanding
Patna: In a significant stride towards fostering collaborative research and academic endeavors, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna and University of Technology Sydney (UTS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at IIT Patna campus on 25th June. The MoU aims to foster joint research in the fields of space technology, renewable energy, data science, Artificial Intelligence, 5G & 6G communications, Semiconductor devices and more.
The agreement was signed by Prof. T.N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna, and Prof. Eryk Dutkiewicz, Associate Dean International, Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology, UTS, in the esteemed presence of Dr. Nabin Sharma from UTS, Prof. A K Thakur, Dean Academic & Administration, IIT Patna, Prof. Preetam Kumar, Dr. N. K. Tomar, Associate Dean Resource, Dr. Anup Keshari, Associate Dean Research & Development, heads of various departments, and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. T.N. Singh, Director, IIT Patna, said that “this will definitely increase and enhance the visibility and acceptability of IIT Patna across the world. This MoU is a pivotal step towards promoting academic collaboration in teaching, learning and research between the two prestigious institutions”.
Prof. Eryk Dutkiewicz emphasized the “transformative impact of joint research collaborations between IIT Patna and UTS, noting their potential to drive economic growth and foster job creation through innovation”.
Prof. Preetam Kumar, who is leading the MoU initiative, said that this partnership will be implemented starting with the joint PhD programme, underscoring the commitment to expand collaborative activities in areas of mutual interest. Further, Prof. Preetam Kumar emphasized that such partnerships harness collective strengths, contributing significantly to academic excellence and advancement in respective fields.
This collaboration is a major step towards creating new opportunities for students, teachers and researchers, enriching the academic landscape and taking forward knowledge-driven initiatives.
