Patna: Unity in diversity and cultural identity took center stage at the grand inauguration of the Inter IIT Cultural Meet 7.0 at IIT Patna. Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Vijay Kumar Sinha, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the importance of unity as the essence of India’s culture. He emphasized moving beyond colonial mindsets and reconnecting with roots, stating, “Our identity is not confined to a single religion, region, or language but is shaped by values of humanity, equality, and compassion.”
The ceremony was attended by IIT Patna Director T.N. Singh, Dean of Academics A.K. Thakur, Associate Dean (Student Affairs) P.K. Tiwari, along with Udit Satija, Ankit Kumar, and other dignitaries. It began with the symbolic lighting of the lamp by the guests, marking the commencement of the four-day cultural extravaganza.
Nearly 3850 students from 23 IITs across the country are participating in the event, showcasing their talents in art, music, dance, and various other cultural activities. The event also featured the unveiling of the meet’s trophy. The dignitaries were honored with mementos and shawls as a gesture of appreciation for their presence and contributions.
IIT Patna Director T.N. Singh, in his welcome address, expressed pride in hosting the cultural meet. He stated that culture serves as a foundation to differentiate between good and bad, adding that the event would significantly contribute to the overall development of students.
The first day included events like the Science Biz Tech Quiz, Hindi Slam Poetry, English Slam Poetry, English Creative Writing, Photoshop Battle, Acting, and Pair on Stage competitions. These activities showcased the immense talent and creativity of students while reinforcing the importance of cultural values.
IIT Patna Registrar Sanjay Kumar concluded the inaugural ceremony by thanking the attendees and participants. This cultural festival stands as a testament to the spirit of unity in diversity, offering a platform for students to connect, collaborate, and celebrate the richness of India’s heritage.
