Bettiah: Prashant Kishor, the founder of the political consultancy Janasuraj, is facing a new legal challenge after Bettiah MP Dr Sanjay Jaiswal filed a defamation case against him. The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Bettiah has accepted the complaint, and an investigation has begun under Section 356 of the Indian Penal Code.
Dr Jaiswal’s lawyer, Chandrika Kushwaha, alleged that Kishor sought to tarnish the image of the four-time parliamentarian without evidence. “Prashant Kishor misrepresented information related to a petrol pump and spread false propaganda. He claims this was all part of a deliberate strategy to damage Dr Jaiswal’s reputation,” Kushwaha said.
The dispute between the two figures has been playing out publicly on social media, with each levelling serious allegations against the other. Kishor has accused Jaiswal of misconduct, while Jaiswal has previously alleged Kishor’s involvement in major scams.
With the matter now before the court, Kishor may be required to appear if the evidence is deemed sufficient. Legal analysts suggest the case could intensify political tensions in Bihar, testing the credibility and strategies of both parties.
