Patna: Jan Suraaj (JSP) convenor Prashant Kishor has announced that the party will launch a statewide campaign from June 1 to press the government on key public demands, marking six months of its rule. Kishor said the initiative aims to remind authorities of promises made during elections.
“The people of Bihar were promised a pension of Rs 2,000, but the government has reduced it to Rs 1,100,” Kishor said. “This must be corrected. Additionally, every family should receive employment worth Rs 15,000-20,000 to prevent migration.” He added that while Rs 10,000 had been distributed to citizens during elections, the total promised sum of Rs 1.90 lakh must be made accessible to enable livelihoods. Jan Suraj workers will visit villages and wards across Bihar to facilitate this fund.
The announcement came during a membership drive at Patna, where over 50 members of the Mithila Student Union (MSU) joined Jan Suraaj. Senior leaders, including state president Manoj Bharti and Manish Kashyap, were present, along with MSU founders Anup Maithil and Aditya Mohan, who joined the party with their teams.

Kishor also addressed the NEET student case, criticising both government and opposition for inaction. He noted that Jan Suraaj members had raised the issue on the ground, prompting the formation of an SIT. Meetings with the SSP led to the suspension of two officials, and legal assistance is being provided to the victim’s family. Kishor reaffirmed that the party will continue to advocate for justice in such cases.
Anup Maithil highlighted broader governance issues, pointing to the government’s plans for a Bihar Bhavan in Mumbai despite the state’s inadequate healthcare system, which forces residents to migrate. He said Jan Suraaj aims to act as a strong opposition, holding the government accountable over the next five years.
