Patna: Bihar is set for another bout of winter chill, with meteorologists warning of falling night temperatures and rain across large parts of the state in the coming days.
Weather conditions in Patna and surrounding areas have remained largely dry, with partly cloudy skies under the influence of westerly winds. According to the Patna meteorological centre, similar conditions are expected to prevail on Republic Day, though a noticeable drop in minimum temperatures is likely.
Forecasters say night temperatures could fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next 48 hours, intensifying the cold once again after a brief period of relative comfort. The next two days, officials said, would be crucial in determining how sharply the chill sets in.
While days are expected to remain pleasant, a slight nip is likely to persist during the mornings and evenings due to sustained westerly winds. The capital recorded a minimum temperature of around 15.5°C, and conditions are expected to stay dry there for at least the next 24 hours.

A change is forecast later in the week. Light to moderate rainfall is expected on January 28 and into the morning of January 29 across as many as 25 districts, particularly in northern and southwestern Bihar. Districts including Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad and Arwal are likely to see rain during this period.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for parts of north Bihar, including West and East Champaran, Gopalganj, Sitamarhi and Sheohar, warning of rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 40 km per hour. Elsewhere, light rainfall is expected.
Meteorologists say the weather pattern is linked to snowfall in the Himalayan regions, which continues to influence conditions across the plains. While no severe cold wave is anticipated, the brief dip in temperatures and spells of rain could make late January feel wintry once again.
