Patna: Janata Dal (United) stepped up its organisational efforts for the Bankipur Assembly constituency by-election, with party national president Nitish Kumar personally reviewing the campaign and directing workers to remain active until the electronic voting machines (EVMs) were sealed.
The Bihar NDA comprises five parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and JD(U). While the participation of Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) was described as relatively limited, the JD(U) maintained an active presence in the campaign.
Nitish Kumar Reviews Campaign
Nitish Kumar held two meetings with senior JD(U) leaders at his residence to review the Bankipur by-election campaign.
Before leaving for Delhi to attend the Monsoon Session of Parliament, Kumar met senior party leaders at his residence to discuss the election. After returning to Patna, he convened another meeting and sought feedback on the party’s campaign activities.
During the second meeting, Kumar enquired about the level of activity among JD(U) workers and instructed them to remain engaged until the EVMs were sealed.
Party Mobilises Cadres
The JD(U) began its organisational mobilisation soon after the NDA finalised its candidate for Bankipur. The party convened a meeting of office-bearers and workers at its state headquarters to coordinate campaign activities.
BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi attended the meeting, which was chaired by JD(U) state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha. The JD(U) assigned specific responsibilities to its workers to ensure sustained campaign activity across the constituency.
As campaigning intensified, the party formed 20 teams and deployed them across different parts of the Bankipur Assembly constituency.
Ministers Join Campaign
Several ministers from the JD(U) quota in the Bihar cabinet took part in the campaign. The party also appointed one of its MLAs as the in-charge for the Bankipur by-election.
JD(U) working national president Sanjay Jha addressed public meetings in Bankipur on two consecutive days. Ministers Shrawon Kumar and Nishant also participated in the campaign rallies.
The mobilisation marked the JD(U)’s active participation in the NDA’s Bankipur by-election campaign, with the party focusing on maintaining its organisational presence through polling day.
