Patna: The Janata Dal (United) has restarted its ‘Janata Darbar’ public grievance programme at its state headquarters in Patna, with three state ministers now scheduled to meet citizens every day of the week, according to a new timetable issued by the party.
The initiative, revived under the direction of party president Nitish Kumar, will allow members of the public to present complaints and issues directly to ministers at the JD(U) office. The programme begins daily at 11:30am.
The schedule has been released by JD(U) state president Umesh Kushwaha. Under the plan, three ministers will be present each day, covering different departments of the Bihar government across the week.
On Mondays, Rural Development Minister Shrawon Kumar, Building Construction Minister Leshi Singh and Rural Works Minister Sunil Kumar will hear grievances. Tuesdays will see Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Science and Technology Minister Sheela Mandal and Energy Minister Shailesh Kumar (Bulo Mandal) meeting visitors.
Wednesdays are assigned to Health Minister Nishant Kumar, Transport Minister Damodar Rawat and Disaster Management Minister Ratnesh Sada. On Thursdays, Food and Consumer Protection Minister Ashok Chaudhary, Prohibition Minister Madan Sahni and Social Welfare Minister Shweta Gupta will attend the sessions. Fridays will feature Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Planning and Development Minister Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha and Minority Welfare Minister Jama Khan.
The Janata Dal (United) had previously run the Janata Darbar programme during Nitish Kumar’s earlier terms as chief minister, when he personally met citizens at similar sessions. The initiative was suspended during the most recent state assembly election period.
Party leaders say the revived format is intended to streamline access between the public and government departments, ensuring that grievances are addressed without delay. The government has stated that ministers will adhere to their designated days to maintain continuity of the programme.
