Jehanabad/Patna : A portion of the roof of an under-construction government school building collapsed during slab casting in Kako block of Jehanabad district, raising questions over construction quality and supervision.

The incident occurred at Upgraded Middle School Khalispur, where the roof casting work was underway. The portion reportedly collapsed before the slab work had been completed.

No major casualty was reported in the incident, but the collapse has triggered concern among local residents over the safety and quality of the government-funded school building.

Roof Gives Way During Slab Casting

The roof slab was being cast when a portion of the structure suddenly collapsed.

The incident caused panic at the site and raised questions about whether the construction was being carried out according to prescribed technical standards.

Villagers have questioned how a roof under construction could collapse before the casting work was even completed.

They have demanded that the construction work be technically examined to determine the exact reason for the collapse.

Villagers Had Earlier Raised Quality Concerns

According to local residents, concerns had allegedly been raised earlier over the quality of materials being used in the construction of the school building.

Villagers claim that complaints regarding the construction material and quality of work had been brought to the attention of the concerned authorities.

Despite the alleged complaints, they said construction continued.

The collapse during slab casting has now intensified demands for an investigation into whether the materials and construction process complied with the required standards.

Questions Over Construction Supervision

The incident has also raised questions over the monitoring and supervision of the school building project.

Residents want to know whether the construction site was being regularly inspected by departmental officials and technical personnel.

They have also sought clarification on whether the construction materials were tested and whether the necessary technical checks were carried out before the slab casting began.

The exact cause of the collapse, however, has not yet been established publicly.

School Building Safety Under Scrutiny

The incident has raised concerns because the building is being constructed for schoolchildren.

Villagers have argued that the safety and structural strength of a government school building should be given the highest priority.

They have demanded that the building should not be certified for use until its structural condition and construction quality have been properly assessed.

A technical inspection could help determine whether the collapse resulted from material quality, structural design, construction methodology or another factor.

Villagers Demand High-Level Inquiry

Following the incident, local residents have demanded a fair and high-level inquiry into the construction work.

They have sought testing of the materials used in the project as well as a technical assessment of the structure.

Villagers also want officials to verify whether the construction has been carried out according to the approved design and prescribed standards.

If an investigation establishes irregularities or negligence, residents have demanded action against those responsible.

Investigation Needed to Establish Exact Cause

The collapse has brought renewed attention to the quality of government construction projects and the mechanisms used to monitor them. At present, it is not clear whether the incident was caused by defective material, a technical issue or a lapse in construction practices.

A detailed technical investigation will be necessary to establish the exact cause and determine whether any responsibility needs to be fixed.

The incident has also underlined the importance of strict quality checks during the construction of school buildings, where structural safety directly affects students and staff.
