Patna: Justice Sudhir Singh was sworn in as a judge of the Patna High Court on Tuesday, marking his return to the bench where he previously served. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice V.M. Pancholi in a ceremony held at the High Court.

Justice Singh, who has been transferred from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, will now serve as the most senior judge of the Patna High Court after Chief Justice Pancholi. His appointment is seen as a significant addition to the judicial strength of the court, given his extensive legal experience and prior tenure in Patna.

A second-generation judge, Justice Singh follows in the footsteps of his father, Justice N.P. Singh, who served on the bench of the Supreme Court of India. His return to Patna is being viewed as a homecoming that will benefit the court’s functioning.

Justice Singh began his legal career in 1991 after completing his education at Vikas Vidyalaya in Ranchi and earning degrees in political science and law from Patna University. He previously served as a standing counsel for the Central Government and represented Indian Railways in various legal matters.

His judicial career began in April 2015 when he was appointed as an additional judge of the Patna High Court. He became a permanent judge in April 2016 and was later transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court in November 2023. On 20 July, he arrived in Patna from Chandigarh ahead of his swearing-in ceremony.

As the senior-most judge after the Chief Justice, Justice Singh is expected to play a pivotal role in handling several key cases and strengthening the judicial processes of the Patna High Court.

Property owners can now assess and pay their taxes online through the official portal or by submitting forms at corporation offices. A 5% rebate is being offered on lump sum payments made within the first quarter, encouraging early compliance.

Under the Bihar Municipal Property Tax Rules, property owners must complete self-assessment without waiting for official notice. New property buyers are required to assess within 30 days, failing which penalties will apply. Reassessment is also mandatory in cases of property use change or new construction, with strict penalties for non-compliance.

The civic body is also conducting surveys based on electricity connections to ensure accurate property records and transparency. With over 3 lakh registered properties, authorities have urged citizens to provide correct information and complete the process on time to avoid penalties and avail benefits.

  • OpenAI has issued an urgent update notice for its macOS apps after identifying a security issue linked to how applications are signed and verified. While there is no evidence of data theft or system breach, the company is taking proactive steps to ensure user safety and prevent any future risks. Mac users are strongly advised to update their apps immediately.

The issue was traced to a supply-chain attack involving Axios, a widely used developer tool. A compromised version was briefly used during an internal process on March 31, 2026, which helps verify app authenticity. Although critical security certificates were likely not stolen, OpenAI is treating the situation seriously and has replaced them as a precaution.

Updated versions of apps like ChatGPT Desktop, Codex, Codex CLI, and Atlas are already released with new security certificates. In collaboration with Apple, OpenAI is ensuring older versions become unusable after May 8. Users who update now will stay protected and avoid disruptions as the company strengthens its security systems.
