Arrah: Jyoti Singh, wife of Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh, filed her nomination papers as an independent candidate from the Karakat constituency on Monday. Soon after filing her nomination, Singh embarked on a nearly 30-kilometre-long roadshow that drew large crowds of supporters.
The event began with Singh offering prayers at a local temple before setting out to greet residents along the route. As her convoy passed, supporters showered her with flowers, and many queued up to take selfies with the independent candidate.
In a Facebook post earlier in the day, Singh announced her candidacy, addressing the people of Karakat directly:
“Hello, the God-like people of Karakat. With your immense love and support, I am going to file my nomination from Karakat 213. This step is a voice of the people’s hopes and trust. Your support is my greatest strength. Let’s come together and bring about a new change,” she wrote.
Her post drew mixed reactions from users. While some extended early congratulations, others questioned her political move. One user commented, “What could happen to the public if it didn’t happen to her husband?” while another, named Shivam, claimed, “The entire drama was staged for the elections.”
