Patna: The political atmosphere in Bihar has intensified with Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief, Chirag Paswan, launching a blistering counter-attack against Prashant Kishore (PK), the founder of the Jan Suraaj party.
Chirag’s sharp critique was a direct response to Kishore’s recent assertion that the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections would be a direct contest between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the nascent Jan Suraaj party, relegating the Grand Alliance to third place.
The Vote-Wastage Argument

Chirag, expressing absolute confidence in the NDA’s prospects, dismissed Kishore’s movement as an electoral non-factor. He appealed directly to the political intelligence of the electorate.
“Biharis are politically intelligent, and they never waste their votes,” Paswan stated. “They also know that if they elect a particular candidate [like Jan Suraaj’s], he will always be at odds with the government, and then there will be no point in electing him.”
The Union Minister stressed that the path to solving Bihar’s structural problems lies in electing legislators who are aligned with the state and central power structures. “Only an MLA who is part of the government and has connections with the central government can solve their problems. Even if they vote for a Jan Suraj candidate, what benefit will they gain?” he questioned.
Dismissing the Grand Alliance
Chirag further refuted Kishore’s framing of the election as a two-way battle, suggesting the opposition Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) is in too much disarray to mount a serious challenge. “This election is not a two-way contest; the Grand Alliance is currently struggling to keep its constituent parties together,” he added.
Chirag’s aggressive stance marks a significant escalation in the rhetoric against Prashant Kishore, whose grassroots movement has been gaining some attention across the state. The LJP (RV) chief’s comments cement the NDA’s narrative: that the only viable choice for progress is electing a candidate who can work in tandem with the established government apparatus.
The contest for Bihar’s 243 assembly seats is scheduled to be held on November 6 and 11, with the counting of votes taking place on November 14.
