Patna: The Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur six-lane cable-stayed bridge across the Ganges is expected to be completed by the end of July, with the Bihar government preparing to open the project to traffic after its inauguration.
Once operational, the bridge will provide a direct road link between Kacchi Dargah in Patna, Raghopur Diara, and Bidupur in Vaishali district, significantly reducing travel time and improving connectivity between Patna and North Bihar.
Project In Final Stage
According to Pankaj Kumar Pal, Secretary of the Road Construction Department, the 19.76-km greenfield project comprises a 9.76-km six-lane cable-stayed bridge over the Ganges and a 10-km approach road.
He said the project has reached its final phase, with 99.1% of the physical work already completed.
Department officials expect the remaining work to be finished this month, after which the bridge will be inaugurated and opened for public use.
Direct Link To NH-30
The bridge will connect Sabalpur in Patna to Bidupur and provide seamless access to the Patna–Bakhtiyarpur Bypass (NH-30).
Officials said the new crossing would strengthen road connectivity between the state capital and districts in North Bihar, offering an alternative route to the heavily used Mahatma Gandhi Setu.

The Road Construction Department said the improved transport corridor is expected to support agriculture, trade and industrial activity by reducing travel time and improving the movement of goods.
The bridge is also expected to make access to hospitals and other essential services in Patna easier for residents of Vaishali and neighbouring areas, particularly during medical emergencies.
According to Pal, the project will make travel between Patna and North Bihar faster, safer and more convenient, while also helping to reduce traffic congestion on the Mahatma Gandhi Setu, one of the busiest road bridges in the state.
