Patna: Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit reviewed the ongoing construction work of the Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur six-lane Ganga bridge project, inspecting the main bridge structure, approach roads and associated infrastructure.
The inspection covered key components of the project, including finishing works, technical installations and expansion joint stressing. Senior engineers and departmental officials briefed him on the current status of execution.
Progress Status and Timeline
According to the Road Construction Department, the project has reached 98.2 percent physical progress. Officials informed that the remaining work is progressing rapidly with a strong emphasis on quality control.
The department has set a target to complete the pending work by the first week of July 2026.
Present during the review were Secretary of the Road Construction Department Pankaj Kumar Pal and engineers from the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited, among others.

Project Overview
The 6-lane greenfield bridge spans a total length of 19.76 km across the Ganga River, connecting Kacchi Dargah in Patna district on National Highway 30 with Bidupur in Vaishali district on National Highway 103.
The project includes a 9.76 km main bridge and around 10 km of approach roads. The first phase, connecting Kacchi Dargah to Raghopur Diyara over a 4.57 km stretch, has already been inaugurated.
Connectivity and Expected Impact
Officials said the bridge will provide direct connectivity between Sabalpur in Patna and NH-103, linking further with the Patna–Bakhtiyarpur bypass.
Once operational, the project is expected to ease traffic congestion on existing crossings, including the Gandhi Setu, while significantly reducing travel time between Patna and North Bihar.
The improved corridor is also expected to support agricultural, industrial and commercial activities, while facilitating faster emergency medical transport to Patna.

During the inspection, the Chief Secretary directed engineers and senior officials to ensure strict monitoring in the final phase of work. He stressed that no compromise should be made on technical standards or timelines.
He also instructed daily progress reviews to ensure timely completion and early public opening of the bridge.
