Gayaji: Air India will resume its services between Gayaji and Delhi from October 25, nearly seven months after suspending operations on the route.
The airline will operate two daily flights, giving passengers a choice between Air India and IndiGo. Ticket bookings for the resumed services have already begun.
Two Daily Flights From October 25
Awadhesh Kumar, director of Gayaji Airport, confirmed that Air India would operate two daily flights from Gayaji to Delhi from October 25.
He also said several international flights are expected to begin operating from Gayaji Airport in October, although details of the services were not specified.
Air India had suspended its Gayaji-Delhi services on March 26. Since then, IndiGo has been the primary carrier operating on the route.
Competition Could Ease Fares
The absence of a second airline has limited passenger choice, particularly during festivals and holidays when demand for air travel rises.
Sandeep Kumar of the Tour Operators Association said the lack of competition had contributed to higher fares on the route, making air travel less affordable for many passengers.
The return of Air India is expected to increase competition and give travellers greater flexibility to select flights according to their schedules and budgets.
Boost Ahead Of Tourist Season
The resumption comes ahead of the tourist season in Bodh Gaya, which begins in October and coincides with the festive period.
Passenger traffic on the Gayaji-Delhi route is expected to rise during this period. The addition of two daily Air India flights will provide more capacity as demand increases.
The move also addresses long-standing demands for improved air connectivity from Gayaji and is expected to strengthen the airport’s domestic and international links.
