Patna: Bihar government will develop 12 new townships with an estimated investment of Rs 6.5 lakh crore, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced during a programme at Bapu Auditorium on Saturday.
Addressing industrialists, chartered accountants, company secretaries and financial professionals, Choudhary said the government had initiated work related to the development of the proposed townships. Industrial corridors and industrial parks will also be established as part of the project to boost economic activity and attract investment.
Township Development and Land Acquisition
Choudhary said the townships would be developed on approximately 6.25 lakh acres of land. He assured landowners that the government would provide appropriate compensation for acquired land.
He said a mechanism was being created to ensure timely compensation payments. According to him, landowners facing urgent financial requirements, such as family obligations or emergencies, will be able to apply through the district administration, following which compensation amounts would be transferred directly to their bank accounts.
Strict Timeline for Disposal of Applications
The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s monitoring system for applications received through cooperation camps organised across the state.
He said around three lakh applications had been received so far, of which nearly 2.4 lakh had already been processed.
According to Choudhary, the Chief Minister’s Office has directed that all applications must be disposed of within 30 days. If action on an application does not begin within 10 days, a notice is issued to the concerned officer. A second notice is sent after 20 days and a third after 25 days.
He said that if an application remains unresolved after 30 days, suspension proceedings against the concerned official will be initiated automatically on the 31st day.
Appeal to Financial Professionals
Calling chartered accountants and company secretaries key stakeholders in Bihar’s economic growth, Choudhary urged them to contribute to the state’s industrial development.
He said entrepreneurs planning to establish industries or startups often seek guidance from financial and compliance professionals before making investment decisions. Their role, he added, would be crucial in helping Bihar achieve economic prosperity.
Focus on Tourism Promotion
The Chief Minister also spoke about the government’s efforts to promote tourism. He said government officials and employees are being encouraged to visit important destinations across Bihar to gain a deeper understanding of the state’s cultural and historical heritage.
He highlighted destinations including the Valmiki Tiger Reserve, Rajgir, Bhimbandh Wildlife Sanctuary, the Yoga Ashram in Munger, Vikramshila University, Punaura Dham, Mahabodhi Temple and Vishnupad Temple.
The programme was attended by Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar, Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dilip Jaiswal, along with representatives from industry and business sectors.
