Patna: Three locked flats in an apartment complex in Patna’s Kadamkuan area were burgled late Sunday night, with gold and silver jewellery and cash reported stolen. The incident took place at Aangan Apartment on Congress Maidan Road.
The targeted flats belonged to a doctor, a lawyer and a retired LIC employee. Preliminary information suggests that jewellery worth around Rs 50 lakh and Rs 50,000 in cash were stolen, though the final value is yet to be verified.
Doctor’s Family Was Away In Ujjain
According to reports, Dr RK Sinha’s family had travelled to Ujjain a few days earlier to visit the Mahakal temple. Their flat was locked when the thieves allegedly entered the apartment.
The doctor’s son reportedly got married in February, and jewellery kept at the residence after the wedding was among the valuables allegedly stolen. Police are verifying the exact quantity and value of the missing items.
Cutter Recovered From Scene
Kadamkuan police reached the apartment after receiving information about the theft and began an investigation. A cutter was recovered from the scene and seized for examination.
Police suspect the tool may have been used to break locks or cut window grills to gain access to the flats.
CCTV Footage Under Examination
Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the apartment complex and surrounding areas to identify the suspects and establish their entry and exit routes.
Police are also collecting other technical evidence as part of the investigation. The sequence of events and the number of people involved are yet to be established.
Security Concerns Among Residents
The apartment’s security arrangements have come under scrutiny after the guard reportedly remained unaware of the theft while it was taking place.
Residents have expressed concern over the incident and are seeking stronger security measures, particularly during night hours.
Investigation Underway
Police said the case remains under investigation. The final value of the stolen jewellery and cash will be determined after complaints from the affected families and verification of the missing valuables.
